How is implant suitability assessed?

What a dentist looks at before planning an implant: examination, imaging and your medical history.

An implant plan is not based on the missing tooth site alone. Your medical history, medication, oral hygiene, gum health and radiographic findings are all considered.

An implant is not suitable for every missing tooth. Alternatives such as a bridge or a removable denture are discussed according to your clinical findings, and you and your dentist make the decision together.

Why is an examination necessary?

The same complaint can have different causes in different people. What to do is decided after an oral examination, imaging if needed, and a look at your medical history.
