Brushing regularly and with good technique is the basis of gum care. Where the brush cannot reach, use floss or the interdental cleaning products your dentist recommends.
See a dentist if your gums bleed when you brush, if bad breath does not go away, or if you notice swelling or gum recession. How often you come in for check-ups depends on your current oral health.
Why is an examination necessary?
The same complaint can have different causes in different people. What to do is decided after an oral examination, imaging if needed, and a look at your medical history.
This page gives general information. It does not diagnose a condition or replace treatment advice for you. Results of surgical and interventional procedures vary from person to person. Ask your dentist for detailed information before treatment.
